From 8:00 am on Saturday, June 24, to 8:00 am on Sunday, June 25, Gamer's HQ christened its brand new gaming lounge with a 24-hour Extra Life gaming marathon. Gamer's HQ hosts a marathon every year that coincides with the official Extra Life Game Day - the official day of the national Extra Life gaming marathon - to raise money and awareness for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.

This will likely be re-evaluated given the anticipated incremental funds raised at the official Game Day Marathon on November 4, 2017.

Approximately 20 store patrons attended the event, each meeting a required dollars-raised minimum to participate. Only two unwritten rules governed the event; you should always be playing some/any type of game, and you should never fall asleep.

Though the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 occupied most of the lounge's TVs, the occasional Nintendo Switch, PC, and a few retro systems made appearances as well.

The lounge - known to the store's regulars as The Great North Wall Expansion - was recently opened to the public. Though not the first event to occupy the lounge, it was the first exposure to the new annex for several participants, and the first of many more Extra Life marathons to come.
