Almost Enjoyable Stupid-Cheap Switch Games
Not only are these games worth less than when I bought them, they're also not very good or interesting. Just little shelf-wasting reminders that I could've actually invested the money wisely.
Zengeon is a stylish anime hack-and-slash RPG, a genre I like that for <$20 I happily gambled. Unfortunately the haction feels clunky and is far too hard for my frail emotional constitution, 2.5/5.
Rustler is a satirical medieval action-adventure that gave me high fantasy Bully-on-a-budget vibes. I had fun at first but the lack of polish and depth quickly caught up to me, 2.5/5.
Gear Club Unlimited and its sequel are perfect for people desperate enough for a big Switch racing sim to try anything close. With realistic expectations they're cheap, unpolished-but-OK sim-lites, 2.5/5.
Ever Forward is an artistic puzzle-adventure that the 2% of my brain that pretends to be fancy found very attractive! It's also difficult to my dummy-brain and has some odd-fitting stealth segments, 2.5/5.
Just Die Already is a meme-game manslaughter simulator whose hilarious death scenes are designed to trick idiots into buying it... and it worked, 2.5/5.
All-Star Fruit Racing is kart racing but with interesting new ideas in very family-friendly packaging. Unfortunately the Switch version performs very poorly... even by Switch standards, 2.5/5.
Embr is like Overcooked/Very Very Valet/Moving Out but with firefighting and also you're better off playing those instead. It's a neat spin on the party-chaos genre, but there's not even local co-op, 2.5/5.
Nothing here is too painfully expensive to own, but equally nothing I couldn't live without. If my son ever reads this, I hope he knows I'm sorry and that I won't be sad if he uses them to level-out wobbly furniture.
